The TUNEL Assay
While many factors contribute to fertility, sperm DNA fragmentation is increasingly recognized as a critical factor in both natural conception and assisted reproductive technologies (ART).
Our advanced TUNEL Assay Test offers a precise and reliable way to assess the integrity of your sperm DNA, providing crucial insights into your fertility potential.
Why is Sperm DNA Fragmentation Important?
Think of sperm DNA as the blueprint for life. When this DNA is damaged or fragmented, it can significantly impact your ability to conceive and carry a pregnancy to term. High levels of sperm DNA fragmentation are linked to:
Difficulty conceiving: Damaged sperm may struggle to fertilize an egg.
Increased risk of miscarriage: Even if fertilization occurs, fragmented DNA can lead to early pregnancy loss.
Lower success rates with IVF: Sperm DNA integrity plays a vital role in the success of assisted reproductive techniques.
Developmental problems in offspring: In some cases, fragmented sperm DNA can contribute to health issues in the child.
What is the TUNEL Assay Test?
The TUNEL (Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling) Assay is a gold-standard test that directly measures the extent of DNA fragmentation in individual sperm cells. It's a highly sensitive and specific method that provides a clear picture of your sperm DNA health.
Why Choose Our TUNEL Assay Test?
Identifying sperm DNA fragmentation allows you to take proactive steps to address the issue, potentially improving your chances of conceiving naturally or through ART.
Book your TUNEL Assay Test today and take the first step towards building the family you've always envisioned.
Important to note : The required abstinence period for this test is no less than 1 day and no more than 2 days. This is vital for accuracy.

The Advanced Male Microbiome Test
Our cutting-edge Male Microbiome Test offers a more complex approach to assessing your reproductive health, going beyond traditional semen analysis to provide a comprehensive picture of your fertility potential.
Why is the Male Microbiome Important?
Groundbreaking research has revealed the critical link between the microbiome – the community of microorganisms living in your body – and sperm health.
An imbalanced microbiome can negatively impact sperm quality, motility, and even DNA integrity, potentially affecting your ability to conceive.
Our advanced test analyzes the specific microbial composition of your semen, identifying any imbalances that may be hindering your fertility.
Take Control of Your Fertility Journey
Don't leave your fertility to chance. Empower yourself with knowledge and take proactive steps towards building the family you've always dreamed of. Our Male Microbiome Test is a simple, non-invasive, and highly effective way to gain valuable insights into your fertility health.

The Advanced FISH Semen Test
Our advanced FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) Semen Test offers a powerful and precise way to analyze the chromosomal makeup of your sperm, providing invaluable insights into your fertility potential and the health of your future family.
Why is Sperm Chromosome Analysis Important?
Sperm carries the genetic blueprint for your child. Chromosomal abnormalities in sperm can lead to:
Infertility: Difficulties conceiving naturally.
Recurrent Miscarriages: Repeated pregnancy losses.
Birth Defects: Increased risk of chromosomal abnormalities in the baby.
Failed IVF Cycles: Lower success rates with assisted reproductive technologies.
What is the FISH Semen Test?
The FISH test is a sophisticated technique that allows us to visualize and analyze the chromosomes within individual sperm cells. It identifies specific chromosomal abnormalities, such as aneuploidy (an abnormal number of chromosomes) and translocations (rearrangements of chromosome segments), which can significantly impact fertility and pregnancy outcomes.
Why Choose Our FISH Semen Test?
Comprehensive Chromosomal Analysis: Our test screens for a range of common chromosomal abnormalities, providing a thorough assessment of your sperm's genetic health.
Highly Accurate Results: We utilize cutting-edge FISH technology and experienced cytogeneticists to ensure precise and reliable results.
Who Can Benefit from the FISH Semen Test?
Couples experiencing recurrent miscarriages.
Men with low sperm counts or poor sperm quality.
Couples considering IVF or ICSI.
Men with a history of exposure to environmental toxins.
Men with known chromosomal abnormalities.

What is the Halosperm Test?
The Halosperm Test measures the presence of a "halo" around sperm cells. This halo is made of hyaluronic acid, a key component for successful fertilization of an egg. A stronger halo indicates a higher likelihood of sperm being able to penetrate an egg.
HaloSperm® is a specialised test that examines the DNA inside sperm cells. Healthy sperm have undamaged DNA, which is crucial for successful fertilization and a healthy pregnancy. This test goes beyond what a basic semen analysis can tell you.
Why Choose the Halo Sperm Test?
Clear Insights: Gain a deeper understanding of sperm quality beyond a standard semen analysis.
Non-Invasive: A simple semen sample is all that's required.
Quick Results: Receive your results within 3 working days (or 24 hours if opted-in at booking stage).
Who Should Consider the Halo Sperm Test?
Couples Experiencing Difficulty Conceiving: Identify potential male fertility factors.
Men with Previous Fertility Concerns: Assess current sperm health.
Individuals Seeking Proactive Fertility Testing: Gain peace of mind.
Couples with a history of miscarriages.
Couples with unexplained infertility for more than 6 months
Men older than 40
Men under treatment with prescription medications
Men exposed to toxic agents
Men who have had urogenital infections
Men with unhealthy lifestyle habits: those who smoke, are sedentary, have an unbalanced diet or are obese.
Male factor of unknown cause
What is the cost/process?
The cost of a Halosperm test at The Male Fertility Clinic is £299.
Simply book online at the same time as your semen analysis appointment.
If you have had a semen analysis elsewhere, you may book a Halosperm test with us, and both reports can be discussed during one of our follow-ups, available to book for £75.
If your doctor has referred you for a DNA Fragmentation test, please be sure that Halosperm is an accepted method. There are other, more complex assays available such as the TUNEL assay. If in doubt, please contact us to be sure you are booking the right test for your requirements.
